omg, i just got hacked 6 weeks ago, and I think I've been hacked again!

I just came home and first received an email confirming a change of password request - that I never made.
The next email was a final warning from Blizz, suspending my account for three days for use of third parrty software - which I have never done!
I talked to someone in my guild who says I was last logged in 8 hours ago, when I haven't been on since 9pm last night, so I'm pretty sure I'm screwed.

I called Blizz and after changing my email address pw, they changed my game pw again. They can't do anything about the suspension over the phone, I'm at the mercy of emailing Blizz for help. Which I did.

Has anyone been through this before? What happens when you get hacked twice? Will they believe me?
I'm running Ad Aware, STOPzilla and Spyware Dr. which all found infections when I just did scans, and I cleaned them. I don't know how they got there, since I thought this software was supposed to be protecting me. As it is, since the last hacking, I've been cutting and pasting my randomly assigned Blizz pw into the game instead of typing it....so apparently that doesnt work.

Any advice? I'm just freaking out. Sigh.

Hey i am in your guild this is deathnstuff.

As far as advice goes just try to remain calm be honest with blizz and give them any and all info thats possible. I recommend you take care of any and all viruses that are on your computer. Check your secruity settings and make sure you computer can no be accessed by other computers and that your connections are secure.

Lastly make a new password. Make it extravegent. Make it so unique not even you can remember it. place it in a notepad file on your desktop and when you log in control paste it and never type it because if they have done this to you once before i assume they have a key logging device.

lastly it might be in your best interest to contact a professional whom knows about computing/network security and set up some custom settings.

Thanks for the advice!
When I was hacked 6 weeks ago, I got a randomly generated pw from Blizz, and I cut and paste it from the email they sent me directly into the game, so I've never typed it out, and it's been a random, impossible to guess pw.

I called a friend who does computer security for a living and left him a msg to see if he can come take a look at things for me.

Fingers crossed. I'm soooo afraid my account will get closed over this or I'll lose all my gear again :(

bottom line that wont happen. You a customer of Blizz and you are the victim here i dont think they have the right to close your account. if they did that to me i would ask for a full refund extending to the beginning of my account as the game is a progression and the money you spent accumulated to your character and if they take the character on their behalf they have to give you amends. well sounds good in my head lol.

Yeah okay that sucks. We had a problem with one of our guildmates getting hacked not too long ago. We had 9 in our guild in total. (You have to believe it was a bad month for raiding).

We traced the virus back to a mod that our guild uses. If I remember correctly it was a bad version of Omen that was culprit for many a problem. But check your mods to make sure they are clean and that there have been no emergency updates for them as well.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks! I did a clean install of Windows and reinstalled the game and only used add ons from Curse. Then I ran, and have repeatedly run Symantec anti virus, Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I also switched my browser to Firefox. I've got my fingers crossed that I'm safe now.

My fiance had a problem with this. He lost his characters too because we had been inactive too long. Decided we like the people and lack of ganking in WoW better than Aion nad came back... Fortuantely my account was okay. His however..... yeah.... not so much.

Turns out he had a trojan. He booted up his old computer and found it.

Might want to run a heavy anti-virus/spyware program. if you don't think it's that I'd use a crazy and secure password. Special Characters and all. Something like !$Iam5zxY1 yeah it'll be harder to remember at first, but it should get easier.

Or maybe even consider gettin ga battle net security key thing. The baby corehound makes it worth the irritation.

Thanks for the advice. I'm afraid that the post you've responded to is about a year and a half old now...I'm actually not even playing WoW anymore (miss it, but the day job comes first)...take care!
