I got hacked last night!
The worst part was, I was on when it happened. I was in Elwin, with 600g, about to buy my epic mount for my 60 pally, and I got disconnected. When I tried to reconnect, my password wouldnt work. Right away I thought hackers, so I submitted a pw change, and, stupid me, the email address they had for me was old and inactive, so I couldnt get the new one to log back in and bump them out of the account.

This morning I found they'd cleaned out all 5 of my level 70s, badges, banks, gear, everything, and I'm a GM of a guild, so they took half our guild bank. Blizz has been supremely helpful and restored all but my gold, badges and gbank items within an hour of my opening a ticket. Now I'm running all the spyware/keylogging software I can get my hands on to clean up whatever wormed it's way into my computer and caused this.

A word of warning - a number of Eonar GM's have been hacked recently and had their gbanks raided. So if you're a GM, be careful. Change your password, run safety software. Don't let them get you too!

So I get home yesterday, and I'm doing the usual, playing with the cat, and the ferret, checking emails, blah blah blah. I head over to the guild site, and notice that one of the players had posted about the guild bank missing money. So I log in and check it out. Sure enough, the bank is missing 894 gold. Unknown had withdrawn it about 13 hours ago. So I text message the Guild master who is on vacation and tell him the news. He calls me back and I explain the situation, and he asks me to open up a GM ticket. I do and this is what happens:

Needless to say, they couldn't give use the gold back, but Crystal donated 300 gold, and I threw in 100 gold, so we are rebuilding.

I always upload my guild roster to Rpgoutfitter. So when a user took things from the guild bank and then deleted their character, even though it didn't show as a gquit in the log, I could see which character had been deleted by matching the changes in the guild roster. There is a nice history report to show who has joined and left the guild. I was able to pinpoint the account because 2 characters were deleted off of it.

Just my 2 cents as a guild leader.
